Letter from Plague Island, April 2026
Dear friends,
April has arrived carrying contradictions. American war, again, in the Middle East. Escalation in Iran. Old alliances tightening their grip. New justifications forming in real time. The familiar language of necessity returning, as it always does.
And yet, at the same moment, the calendar offers Easter: a story about humility, sacrifice, and moral courage. Which brings us, inevitably, to Donald Trump.
We would like to wish a sincere Happy Easter to those who celebrate… but not to Donald Trump.
Whatever he claims — and whatever his acolytes insist on projecting onto him — he does not embody Christianity. He exploits it.
We do not remember Jesus engraving his name in gold across towers or monetising faith.
